Our range of parenting support mechanisms are all use a supportive, non-threatening approach which encourages parents to look at their own needs along with the needs of their children. All support for parents is based on the Parent-Centred Parenting model developed by Dr. Gummer. For more information on the model please click on the logo.

What would a typical programme cover?

We look at some basic principles of child development – egocentricity, temperament and, without jargon, we explain how some natural features of childhood can produce behaviour that is difficult for adults to deal with if it is not properly understood. We give practical tips and ‘tricks of the trade’ for helping to diffuse and deal with difficult situations and increase parents’ enjoyment of their role.

All Fundamentals' parenting workshops are based on the principle that parents form the basis for everything that a child learns, including self-esteem, how to conduct relationships, as well as all other aspects of social and emotional development.

By increasing confidence and instilling a sense of self belief in parents, the workshops then move on to deal with acquiring an understanding of children's behaviour, the effect that parenting behaviours can have and how Parent-Centred Parenting can be implemented simply with children of all ages.

Because all families and situations are unique, Fundamentals will tailor our programme to meet the individual needs of each group, family or individual.
